The EDGE Grant for Web Apps, Software and AI Automation: A 2026 Guide for Singapore Businesses

By the DevSparks team · Published · Last updated

The EDGE Grant is Enterprise Singapore's single business grant from 30 September 2026, replacing PSG, EDG and MRA. For software projects it usually covers up to 50% of qualifying costs for SMEs and 30% for non-SMEs, and most activities share a S$100,000 annual cap per company. Custom web apps fit only some activities, and one wrong step, such as paying a deposit early, can void the grant.

Key takeaways

  • Digitalisation support is up to 50% for SMEs and 30% for non-SMEs. The 70% rate is for internationalisation and sustainability only.
  • Most activities share a S$100,000 annual cap per company, with a S$30,000 sub-cap for off-the-shelf tools and ERP. Large-scale Digital Transformation and Product Development are assessed case by case, outside that cap.
  • Custom platforms usually fall under Large-scale Digital Transformation, which needs cross-system integration and measurable impact.
  • Apply before you sign, start work or pay anything. Only your own staff can submit the application.
  • The grant is a reimbursement, paid after one final claim once the project is complete and fully paid.

How much does EDGE pay?

Support levels depend on the business area of the activity:

EDGE support levels by activity type
SMEsNon-SMEs
Most activities, including digitalisationUp to 50%Up to 30%
Internationalisation and sustainabilityUp to 70%Up to 50%
  • Annual cap: up to S$100,000 per company, shared across activities. The cap runs from 1 April to 31 March and then resets. BizSG lists Large-scale Digital Transformation and Product Development as assessed case by case and not counted towards this cap.
  • Digital sub-cap: within that, up to S$30,000 for single-function digital solutions, integrated enterprise systems and pre-scoped equipment.
  • Previous grants: past EDG, MRA or PSG funding does not count against the EDGE cap, but a project already funded under those schemes cannot be funded again.

Who can apply?

  • A business entity registered and operating in Singapore.
  • At least 30% owned, directly or indirectly, by Singapore citizens or permanent residents.
  • Non-profits, societies, religious bodies, statutory boards and government subsidiaries cannot apply.
  • To get SME rates, group annual sales must be up to S$100 million or group employment up to 200 workers.

You must still meet these rules when you claim. If your ownership changes during the project, the claim will not be supported.

Which EDGE activity fits your software project?

EDGE funds activities, not products, and each activity has its own rules. For software, four activities matter most:

EDGE activities relevant to software projects
Best forVendorCounts towards
Single-function Digital SolutionsOff-the-shelf tools for one job, such as order or visitor managementPre-approved packages (IMDA SMEs Go Digital)S$30,000 digital sub-cap
Integrated Enterprise SystemsERP covering at least 3 core business functions, with project cost capped at S$60,000Pre-approved (about 1 week to process) or your own (about 10 weeks)S$30,000 digital sub-cap
Large-scale Digital TransformationCustom platforms that connect and change core operationsYour choice of vendorAssessed case by case, outside the S$100,000 cap
Product Development (Innovation)A new product beyond current market standards, not your first productYour choice of vendorAssessed case by case, outside the S$100,000 cap

Pre-approved vendors are required only for single-function packages, and are optional for integrated ERP. For Large-scale Digital Transformation and Product Development you choose your own vendor, provided it has no relationship with your company, its directors or shareholders. Product Development does not cover a company's first product, and the project must go beyond current market standards.

Large-scale Digital Transformation, in detail

This activity supports up to 50% for SMEs and up to 30% for non-SMEs. Your project must do all three of these:

  1. Show measurable impact on company growth and efficiency.
  2. Strengthen core operations with modern technology, such as cloud platforms, data analytics, AI, robotic process automation, workflow automation, or connecting legacy systems to new ones.
  3. Integrate or standardise across systems such as sales, procurement and operations.

What it will not pay for

  • Automating an isolated task without wider change, such as digitising a paper form that connects to nothing.
  • Basic IT upgrades, such as faster internet or a newer version of software you already use.
  • Maintenance costs and GST.

Documents to prepare

  • A project proposal, plus vendor proposals and quotations.
  • Audited or management-certified financial statements for the last financial year.
  • Three-year projections of revenue growth, cost savings and overseas sales from the project.
  • One-year projections of new jobs, including Singaporean jobs paying above S$5,000 a month.

What you must show at the end

  • A project report with milestones, benefits and challenges.
  • Screenshots and photos of the deployed system and its unique identifiers, such as licence numbers or user IDs.
  • Training records, if any, and a final consultancy report if consultants were involved.

Before claiming, you engage an auditor from Enterprise Singapore's panel and submit within 14 working days of signing the engagement letter. Final grant amounts are assessed case by case and do not count towards the S$100,000 cap. How to apply, step by step

  1. Pick the activity. Use the EDGE activity search or BizSG, or book an SME Centre advisor if unsure.
  2. Get proposals and quotations. Check the activity's vendor rules. Your vendor must not be related to your company, its directors or shareholders.
  3. Apply on the Business Grants Portal using Corppass. Do this before signing, starting work or paying anything.
  4. Accept the Letter of Offer. It sets the grant amount, qualifying period and deliverables.
  5. Build and pay in full. You cannot change vendor after approval. Only the project end date and claim due date can be changed.
  6. Submit one final claim with deliverables and proof of payment. Set up PayNow Corporate for the fastest payout.

Mistakes that void an EDGE claim

  • Paying a deposit or starting work before applying. The application becomes retrospective and is rejected.
  • Letting your vendor submit for you. All submissions must come from your own authorised staff.
  • Switching vendor mid-project. You must terminate and reapply before paying a new vendor.
  • Missing the claim due date. Only one extension is allowed, and it must be requested before the deadline.
  • Losing eligibility. If local ownership drops below 30% before you claim, the claim fails.

Before you commit

Whether a project qualifies depends on the activity and on Enterprise Singapore's assessment, not on the vendor alone. This page summarises published rules as of the date above. It is not official advice and rules can change, so confirm the details on the activity page or with an SME Centre before you sign or pay anything. Frequently asked questions

How much does the EDGE grant cover for software?

Digitalisation activities, including Large-scale Digital Transformation, support up to 50% of qualifying costs for SMEs and up to 30% for non-SMEs. The 70% rate applies only to internationalisation and sustainability activities.

Can EDGE pay for a custom web app?

Possibly, under Large-scale Digital Transformation, if the project changes core operations, integrates systems such as sales and procurement, and shows measurable impact. A standalone tool that only digitises a form is not supported.

Can I pay a deposit before applying?

No. Starting work or paying any deposit before you submit the application makes it retrospective, and retrospective applications are not supported. You may pay after submitting, but you carry the risk if it is rejected.

Can my developer apply for EDGE on my behalf?

No. Only your own staff with Corppass BGP Preparer or Acceptor roles can submit applications and claims. Your vendor can supply the proposal, quotation and project documents.

Does my vendor need to be pre-approved?

Only for some activities. Single-function digital solutions use pre-approved packages, and integrated ERP is faster with a pre-approved vendor. Large-scale Digital Transformation and Product Development let you choose your own vendor, as long as it is not related to your company.

Who qualifies as an SME?

A company with group annual sales of up to S$100 million or group employment of up to 200 workers.

Does the EDGE grant cover maintenance?

No. Large-scale Digital Transformation excludes maintenance costs and GST.

When is the grant paid?

After the project is complete and fully paid, through one final claim. Claims for most activities open from 1 December 2026. Once approved, PayNow disbursement takes about 14 working days and GIRO up to eight weeks.

Can I still apply for PSG?

No. PSG, EDG and MRA ceased on 29 September 2026. Applications submitted before 30 September 2026 are still assessed under their original rules.
